Cost: 150$
Duration : 90 minutes (50-60 questions)
Available Languages : English, Japanese
Exam Description
The Building Cisco Multilayer Switched Networks (BCMSN 642-812) is a qualifying exam for the Cisco Certified Network Professional CCNP®, Cisco Certified Internetwork Professional CCIP®, and the Cisco Certified Design Professional CCDP® certifications. The BCMSN 642-812 exam will certify that the successful candidate has important knowledge and skills necessary to implement scalable multilayer switched networks. The exam includes topics on Campus Networks, describing and implementing advanced Spanning Tree concepts, VLANs and Inter-VLAN routing, High Availability, Wireless Client Access, Access Layer Voice concepts, and minimizing service Loss and Data Theft in a Campus Network.Exam Topics
Implement VLANs
Explain the functions of VLANs in a hierarchical network.
Configure VLANs (e.g., Native, Default, Static and Access).
Explain and configure VLAN trunking (i.e., IEEE 802.1Q and ISL).
Explain and configure VTP.
Verify or troubleshoot VLAN configurations.
Conduct the operation of Spanning Tree protocols in a hierarchical network
Explain the functions and operations of the Spanning Tree protocols (i.e., RSTP, PVRST, MISTP).
Configure RSTP (PVRST) and MISTP.
Describe and configure STP security mechanisms (i.e., BPDU Guard, BPDU Filtering, Root Guard).
Configure and Verify UDLD and Loop Guard.
Verify or troubleshoot Spanning Tree protocol operations.
Configure and verify link aggregation using PAgP or LACP.
Implement Inter-VLAN routing
Explain and configure Inter-VLAN routing (i.e., SVI and routed ports).
Explain and enable CEF operation.
Verify or troubleshoot InterVLAN routing configurations.
Implement gateway redundancy technologies
Explain the functions and operations of gateway redundancy protocols (i.e., HSRP, VRRP, and GLBP).
Configure HSRP, VRRP, and GLBP.
Verify High Availability configurations.
Describe and configure wireless client access
Describe the components and operations of WLAN topologies (i.e., AP and Bridge).
Describe the features of Client Devices, Network Unification, and Mobility Platforms (i.e., CCX, LWAPP).
Configure a wireless client (i.e., ADU).
Describe and configure security features in a switched network
Describe common Layer 2 network attacks (e.g., MAC Flooding, Rogue Devices, VLAN Hopping, DHCP Spoofing, etc.)
Explain and configure Port Security,802.1x, VACLs, Private VLANs, DHCP Snooping, and DAI.
Verify Catalyst switch (IOS-based) security configurations (i.e., Port Security, 802.1x, VACLs, Private VLANs, DHCP Snooping, and DAI).
Configure support for voice
Describe the characteristics of voice in the campus network.
Describe the functions of Voice VLANs and trust boundaries.
Configure and verify basic IP Phone support (i.e. Voice VLAN, Trust and CoS options, AutoQoS for voice).

642-812 387 Q screen shot contain many question from BSCI...is combined test not just switching?
hi freddie
yeah there are some questions from BSCI. just skip'em.

Hi careercert,
The dumps for the BCMSN paper has been changed on 1st of october with 397 questions, can you please update it.
can someone pls help with p4s 642 812 v6.87 pdf q.131 p 277? it say correct answer is d that hosts can communicate but config shows trunk is made of access port only. Must have trunk to carry traffic between two switch and trunk can not be 'access' port, that is only for end station right? This is confusing to me.
@ fixingit2002
The answer is right! We need a trunk port between switches only if they have more than one vlan. In this question the switches have only one vlan, so we don't need to configure the G ports as Trunk. In other words, a trunk port is require to carry traffic for multiple vlans.
but it show vlan 2 and vlan 5??? we have two vlan only one subnet. I think I see though that issue is because only same subnet. This is tricky. Why would I configure like that really? Thank you for help.
can ask one more? on pg 177 it shows stp and election. choices are A and D. But if sw1 is elected root, port 3/1 on sw 3 must be the root port for that switch because it is connected to root...what I missed? thank you again.
@ fixingit
In Q-131, Each switch has only one vlan. If there are vlan 2 and vlan 5 on both of the switches, then we'll need to configure a trunk port between them.
On page 177, port 3/1 is blocked because it is a 10 mbps link. According to STP, there should be only one way from downstream switches to root.
So if ASW3 wants to send BPDUs to Root(SW1), it'll select P3/2 coz it has higher bandwidth. P3/2 will be selected as designated port because it is 100 mbps.
latest BCMSN dumps of p4s contains 466 questions updated on 15th oct,,,,,,can anybody send it plz,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Hey Guys,
I had passed switching paper on 14th November & got 988/1000. I prepared with recent 7.46 dump only. And onething, few routing(OSPF) questions are coming on the exam, FYI. Congrats to everyone who going to give the exams & special thanks to careercert for providing the exam dump. - Bala
question on 6.87 pdf? question 168 says answer is to use preempt command to ensure A comes on line if serial port on B fails.
I thought preempt was only to allow a router in hsrp pair to 'get out of the way' when the higher priority router come back online? no prempt command is default and still hsrp routers stand in for each other on failure so, how can it need preempt command to do what hsrp do by default? Can someone tell me what I miss?
TI BCMSN discrepancy? Q 98 implies that trunk will not be formed if native vlans mismatch, and that is true. Q106 then lists three things that are true of a given config, and in that config one switch native vlan is 5 the other switch native vlan is no specified, meaning it will be one.
here are choices and answer:
A. A trunk link will be formed.
B. Only VLANs 1-1001 will travel across the trunk link.
C. The native VLAN for Switch B is vlan 1.
D. DTP is not running on Switch A.
E. DTP packets are sent from Switch B.
Answer: ACE
but it can not form link with native vlans mismatched, can it?
Compare to q 98 where two trunks can not form connection and reason is mismatched vlan...
A. The two ends of the trunk have different duplex settings.
B. The two ends of the trunk have different EtherChannel configuration.
C. The two ends of the trunk have different native VLAN configuration.
D. The two ends of the trunk allow different VLANs on the trunk.
Answer: C
Please claify...what is correct answer? Trunk will not form with mismatched vlan, right? so 1 106 is wrong?
Hi All,
May I know which is the latest p4sure dump for 642-812.
Thanks in advance,
