@ madhu,
The ICND1 and ICND2 exams are just two halves of the CCNA 640-802 composite exam. Passing ICND 1&2 exams is equivalent to CCNA.

Hi,
I have very very little knowledge about CCNA. I have a very basic (might be stupid for few) questions about the exam. Is CCNA different from ICND1 and ICND2? or Passing ICND1 and ICND2 equivalent to passing CCNA?
Thanks

@ above guy,
It is not mentioned anywhere whether ccie written could be used as a prerequisites for ccna concentration exams or not.
I found the following info on Cisco forum:-
"You don't have to take the CCNA Exam first. If you choose, you can take CCNA Security first and then the CCNA later. However, keep in mind that CCNA is a prerequisite to CCNA Security and so if you choose to take CCNA Security first, you will not be awarded your certificate until you do your CCNA test. Then, you would be awarded both certificates."

Hi,
Got a query on CCNA new sylabus and recertification. I passed my CCNA way long back – 1999. Is it true that if I pass any of 642-xxx track, I will automatically get CCNA inspite of my CCNA being 1999?. What's the sylabus for new version of CCNA ?.

Nope, you need to write both 'CCNA' and 'CCNA security' exam to be able to sit for CCSP. Sorry to confuse you in first reply…and CCSP is a FOUR exam certification just like CCNP. Check below link for detailed info:-

Thanks. (Mistook CCSA for Cisco Certified Security Associate).
Your last statement – "So you should write CCNA(640-802) first and then you'll be eligible for CCSP" – Does that mean after the CCNA (640-802), I am eligible to write the exam for the CCSP. And please I also want to affirm if CCSP is one exam. Thanks (also for the prep lab)
Hi Michael,
Do you want to say 'CCNA Security' or CCSA(Checkpoint Certified security admin)?
Anyway, the shortest path for CCSP is -CCNA-(640-802) exam.. because for CCNA Security exam, you need to have CCNA first. (CCNA is a prerequisite for CCNA Sec).
So you should write CCNA(640-802) first and then you'll be eligible for CCSP.
I hope its clear now.

Hi, thanks a lot for all the support you are rendering. Pls, I am about to write my CCNA but my goal is the CCSP. Please which is the shortest part (no of exams) to reaching the CCSP. Is the CCNA and the CCSA two different Associate level exams and if so, can I opt to write the CCSA without the CCNA or is the CCNA a prerequisite for the CCSA. Thanks in anticipation of being enlightened.

Also note that CCNA certification can not be renewed by giving CCNA security exam.
As a shortcut you can give ICND2 exam it'll renew your CCNA and you'll be eligible for CCSP.
Hope this helps.
you need a valid CCNA for CCNA security exam. In addition you'll have to pass CCNA -or- CCNA security for CCSP.
So in you case if you want to go for CCSP then CCNA is your only option. After passing CCNA you can go for CCSP.
My CCNA is Expired 3 Months Earlier.I want to Go for CCSP so do i need to give the CCNA Exam.Or I can Directly Go for CCNA Security.

There is no time limit.
You can take the ICND2 exam at any time.
Good Luck.

How much time do we have to write ICND2 once we pass ICND1?
